LIVE DEMO AT EuMW
OMMIC to Perform Wideband Modulation Measurement on GaN/Si Power Amplifier at European Microwave Week 2019
Europe’s largest event dedicated to RF and Microwave, European Microwave Week (EuMW), will be held in Paris from October 1-3. OMMIC, pioneer and world leader in millimetric GaN technology, will showcase its latest cutting-edge technologies at Booth #A1180.
To demonstrate the performance of its products, the company teamed up with Keysight Technologies, the leading technology company in test and measurement solutions and services.
An advanced setup to characterize the behavior of a device under modulated wideband signal stimulus will be on display. The device under test is a CGY2651UH/C1, 10 W GaN/Si power amplifier operating from 37 to 43 GHz, ideal for Radar, 5G and space Applications. The demonstration aims to perform Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) and Noise Power Ratio (NPR) measurements in a non-linear condition.
GaN/Si or GaN/SiC Technologies components used in advanced technology like 5G or Radar, works often at the limit of their design to allow the best possible performance. Wide bandwidth and complex modulation scheme make the test setups, are complex and sources for potential errors, such as mismatch and cable loss, which compromise signal fidelity and reduce the accuracy and repeatability of measurements.
Keysight’s new S93070xB Modulation Distortion Application, embedded on the PNA-X Network Analyzer, enables designers to accurately, repeatably, and quickly characterize the behavior of a device under modulated wideband signal stimulus, and provides the lowest possible residual error vector magnitude available.
“We are pleased to join effort with Keysight Technologies demonstrating which level of performance are possible to achieve using our GaN products for microwave applications.” said Charles EDOUA KACOU, fields application and reliability manager of OMMIC.
“Advanced devices need accurate and repeatable measurement setup that engineers can trust,” stated Giovanni D’Amore, RF&MW Market Initiative Manager, at Keysight Technologies. “This novel technology integrated on our PNA-X allows engineers to isolate and measure key performance parameters of their design, reduce complexity of test environments and eliminate potential sources of error.”
